Flashback...Saturday?

I missed it. I missed Friday. It was yesterday you see, and I had something very important to do...Which is actually what inspired this week's Flashback. 

Years ago, Michael started working with this young kid named Chris at Elsas. Turns out we all had a lot of the same interests and enjoyed doing the same things to pass our time, so we started hanging out together as a group. Very long story short, Chris is now one of our best friends. He's the Godfather of both of our children, and when we left Ohio for Idaho, he was one of the people we missed most.

Flashback Friday: 30 Weeks Again

Since yesterday I officially hit the 30 week point in this pregnancy it seemed appropriate to flash back to the last time I was 30 weeks pregnant in the early weeks of 2009. Looking back now it is amazing to me how differently I am thinking at the same stage in my second pregnancy. I look different, I feel different, there is so much going on in my life that is completely different that it was the first time around...I imagine most mother's feel this way, but it's amazing to me.

 I suppose we should start off with some pictures, since that is the point of Flashback Friday to begin with. :0) The story told by the pictures.

Flashback Friday: Happy Anniversary!

Tomorrow is my 6 year wedding anniversary. With material like that, it wasn't hard to decide what I was going to flash back to this Friday. I've known my husband for 11 years and in January we will have been together for 10 of those, but tomorrow, May 28th, marks the anniversary of the day I became his Mrs.

Of course, this year it is bittersweet because he is gone. When we got married he wasn't in the military yet, so it never crossed my mind that we'd be spending anniversaries apart. The trend started early though, as he left for BMT on the day of our 2nd anniversary back in 2007. So it's kind of a double anniversary for us every year since. 6 years ago he became my husband, 4 years ago he became a hero. I am so proud and blessed to be his wife.

Flashback Friday: Shamrock Elizabeth

Today's Flashback Friday isn't one I want to write. I wish more than anything that I'd never had to write this, but I also think it's important. After all, if anyone deserves to be remembered in this blog, she does.

On March, 17, 1994 my sweetheart, my dear friend, my first "baby" was born. Shamrock Elizabeth was the most beautiful kitten you've ever hoped to see, and she was my best friend for years. As odd as it must sound to someone who had never experienced a bond like that with an animal, she was just a part of me. I was 10 when I got her, and she was there for most of the major moments in my growing up years.

Flashback Friday

First off, I would like to say I am 100% unhappy with the look of my blog. I want something that screams me and mine. I really love blogging, and writing in general, and the fact that my blog doesn't reflect me is bringing me down more than it should. (It could be pregnancy hormones too. Who knows?) I am hoping to re-vamp it, or have it re-vamped, very soon. But for now, please don't judge me based on my horribly generic and cluttered blog.  Secondly, I am so happy to be back and doing Flashback Friday again! I've missed it! It's so much fun to read other people's flashbacks and to share my own. It gives me a chance to go back in time and remember things I might have forgotten. This week I had no idea where to flash back to. There is so much going on in our lives right now, so much that I am finding completely overwhelming, that I was having a very hard time focusing on some of the old happy. So I went to my albums and started searching at random hoping to find something hat would catch my interest. I found something that made me cry, so I suppose that fits the bill. It certainly seems appropriate given some of the main points of stress we are experiencing as a family right now.

Flashback Friday: Last Fall...Fin

All month I've been flashing back to this time last year. Bubba and I were on our own while Daddy was deployed, and I was determined to not only make the best of his first Fall/Halloween, but to take enough pictures so that Daddy would feel like he was right there with us. (Not to mention all of our family back in Ohio who were experiencing their new grandson/great-grandson/nephew/godson/cousin/etc. strictly through my photography.)

Flashback Friday: More Fall

This week I will be continuing with the theme I started last week and flashing back to last Fall at around this time. It was Bubba's first Fall, Daddy was in lands far, far away, and I was taking as many pictures as physically possible so that Daddy wouldn't feel like he had missed on minute of his son's life!

Flashback Friday: Fall

Buckle in prepare for a ride. Don't worry, we won't be going too far. This entire month I plan to flashback only to last year at this time. Last Fall was Bubba's first, and as Daddy was away protecting our country, I was talking roughly 500-600 pictures a week so that he didn't feel he was missing anything.

This week I'm flashing back to August, 5, 2008...the day I found out I was pregnant. I can't believe that it has been two years (and one day) since I found out that I was a Mommy! The time really has flown!

Flashback Friday: Happy BIrthday Sophia

Before becoming parents, hubby and I had the great honor to become an Aunt and Uncle to a beautiful little girl named Sophia. She arrived August, 1, 2006...almost 3 months early. Those first days and weeks were so scary and sad and...well, I can't even describe them. There is nothing quite like looking at and touching a baby that is smaller than most dolls. We could take off our wedding rings and easily push them all the way up her little arms and legs. It was hard, because we lived almost 3 hours away from the hospital she was at, (little did we know how much harder it would be to live across the country) but we were there the day she was born and many weekends after, hoping and waiting and praying.

Flashback Friday: Graduation

Three years ago this week I flew down to Texas to watch my husband graduate from BMT! I had never flown alone, never traveled alone, never lived alone, and certainly never imagined living across the country from where I had grown up, but all those things were happening or about to happen.

I was so very proud of him! I still am!

It was an amazing weekend, and saying goodbye again at the end of it was so hard, but it is also a favorite weekend of mine to look back on. I hope you enjoy it too!

Flashback Friday: 4th Of July

I know, I know...I'm running late. In some parts of the country it's already Saturday...but not in my part. Better late than never, right?

Since it's the 4th of July weekend I thought that I would flashback to this time last year. It was Bubba's first 4th of July, which made it a very special 4th of July indeed. We also had Ohio visitors, which is always a special event. It was the first time my brother and sister had met their nephew.

This weeks's Flashback Friday was going to highlight my brother and my high school graduations, since we both just celebrated our graduation anniversaries this past week. (9 years for me, 3 years for him.) I couldn't find our pictures though, so will have to go with something else. Maybe graduation pictures will take over the spotlight next week.
