Scripture Sunday: Mark 10:13-16 & Ephesians 6:1-4

Our son turns 14 months old today. It's all gone by so quickly, and it has all been such a blessing! Because of this mini "birthday" I wanted this week's scripture to reflect children, not just their mention in the Bible, but our place as their parents to teach them and guide them towards leading a good life and having a relationship with Jesus.

 Mark 10:13-16 reads:

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.
When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

and Ephesians 6:1-4 reads:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
"Honor your father and mother"-which is the first commandment with a promise-
"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

I like the verses you picked. Kinda hits close to home for me...

"He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." This is on Mike's(hubby)daughter's headstone. It's very sweet. And then your Eph. verses - When my kids do something really wrong they have to write sentances. Sometimes I will make them write one page, sometimes two or whatever is necessary. I always pick out a verse or two to have them write that has to do with what they did wrong... this one they have had to write quite a few times, lol.

Danielle, I had no idea that your hubby had lost a daughter. :0( I am so very sorry.

I like the idea of making them write pages when they have done something wrong. I think it really makes them THINK about it.

I'm glad you liked this weeks verses. I liked them a lot. :0)
